Harden Ranch

Monterey County

Expands Conservation Landscape

This easement conserves 480 acres of grazing and hunting land in southeastern Monterey County, which supports native grasslands and oak woodlands.  The current landowner, August Harden, was gifted the land by the Avery family in 2009. Historically, the land was used for grazing and crop farming, but is now predominately grazed by cattle. The easement safeguards water flowing into Portuguese Canyon Creek and offers contiguous landscape blocks connecting adjacent Sky Rose Ranch, Kester Ranches, and Varian Ranches.
