This easement conserves 1,409 acres of rolling grass hills with native grasses and wildflowers, protects vernal pools and productive grasslands, preserves unfragmented open space within the Merced Core Vernal Pool Recovery Area. JCR East Ranch contains ephemeral stream corridors and unplowed grasslands that house many species such as California tiger salamander, vernal pool fairy shrimp, western burrowing owl, succulent owl’s clover, Hartweg’s golden sunburst, and dwarf downingia. The conservation easement was funded by U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
