Alyssa Rolen developed a love for agriculture and the land at an early age, spending much of her childhood riding her horse through the hills of her family’s ranch in Northern California. That upbringing shaped her appreciation for working landscapes and the ranching families who care for them.

Alyssa joined the Rangeland Trust in 2017 and now serves as Director of Communications. In her role, she leads the organization’s communications, marketing, and outreach efforts and supports state and federal policy advocacy to advance agricultural land conservation.

Passionate about sharing the stories of California’s ranching families, Alyssa works to build greater awareness and understanding of the vital role working rangelands play in California’s agriculture, environment, and communities. She is an executive producer of the award-winning documentary You Just Can’t See Them From the Road, which highlights the challenges facing California ranchers and the far-reaching benefits of their stewardship.

Alyssa’s undergraduate studies focused on livestock business management at Fresno State University, while her graduate coursework was in agricultural communications at the University of Missouri. She is also a member of Class 56 of the California Agricultural Leadership Program.
