Katie worked as an independent grant consultant for non-profit
and state agencies since 2015 where she specialized in fundraising and
development efforts, grant proposal writing and budget development, and
assisting clients develop a stronger capacity as federal award
recipients. Katie moved to California in 2015 after receiving a promotion
as a Supervisory Grants Officer for the Bureau of Reclamation. Before accepting
the promotion, Katie worked as a Grants Officer for the National Park Service
in Nebraska. Katie also worked as a Grant Assistant for the Department of
Housing and Urban Development, the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority, and
Omaha’s Lauritzen Gardens.
Katie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and
Anthropology (minor in Native American Studies) from the University of Nebraska
at Omaha (UNO) and a Master’s Degree in Urban Studies (UNO). Katie presented
original research findings at 3 Society for Applied Anthropology conferences,
served as the president of UNO’s Student Anthropology Society, and holds a
Federal Grants Management certificate as recommended by the National Grants
Management Association. In her free time, she can be found hiking and jumping
into swimming holes with her two sons. She also enjoys spending time with her
Rottweiler, Junior.
