BBQ with the Board

On September 12th, Bob Slobe and the North Sacramento Land Company graciously welcomed 80 guests to their beautiful and unique office in Sacramento for the BBQ with the Rangeland Trust Board. The event brought together a diverse group of Rangeland Trust friends, both long-time and new, including ranchers, farmers, and plenty of agriculture enthusiasts; landowner partners; donors; artists; lifelong Sacramentans; and of course, volunteer leadership on the Rangeland Trust Board and Legacy Council.

California Rangeland Trust is pleased to announce the permanent conservation of 419.5 acres in South Sacramento in conjunction with the Van Vleck Family, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), and South Sacramento Conservation Agency.

Vernal Pool Habitat Permanently Protected in Sacramento County

California Rangeland Trust is pleased to announce the permanent conservation of 352 acres of the Apple Road Preserve in Sacramento County. This follows a previous conservation agreement established in 2019, which conserved 239 acres of the Preserve, for a total combined conserved area of 591 acres.

Apple Road Ranch

Apple Road Ranch Sacramento County Permanently Protecting Vernal Pool Habitat Situated on the western side of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, the 239-acre Apple Road Ranch is a mitigation easement owned by Westervelt and leased out for cattle grazing. The property provides high quality natural and established habitat for vernal

Van Vleck Ranch

The Van Vleck Ranch sits directly across the highway from 3,000 homes. While the Van Vlecks had an opportunity to sell the ranch for development, they instead made the decision to preserve the ranch for future generations. In 2017 and 2019, the Van Vlecks worked with the Rangeland Trust to conserve 285 acres and 450 acres respectively. Both were mitigation projects, funded by private developers, to offset nearby developmental impacts on habitat.
